We have reached that stage of existence, where any expression of anger and frustration cannot heal the wounds of the soul. Yet another daughter of India became India’s daughter. We are at a loss of words to express the pain at the moment.

As desperate as any other citizen, we are in search of answers for the safety of our daughters. What can WE do to change the situation? Beautifully performed, Bhuvan Bam highlights the current situation and the future course of action for us. Its not just that “we can change the world”. Its high time that WE MUST.

Dilip Kumar

It is said that “Heros get remembered, but legends never die.” They always live in our hearts and minds. On Throwback Thursday, today we bring you one such legendary actor of the Indian Cinema.

Born as Muhammad Yusuf Khan in Qissa Khawani Bazaar in Peshawar Pakistan, Dilip Kumar hails from a Hindko speaking Awan family. His father Ghulam Sarwar was a fruit merchant. Spotted by Bombay Talkies, he started his career in 1944 with “Jwar Bhata”. However, his first major hit came in 1947 with the film “Jugnu” and there was no looking back after that. As a part of some of the most iconic films of hindi cinema, he consolidated his position as one of the greatest actors of all times with films like Devdas (1955), Azaad (1955) and Mughal E Azam (1960). His career spanned for over five decades with Qila as his last film in 1998.

Popularly known as The Tragedy King and The First Khan of Bollywood, “he has been credited with bringing realism to film acting since his first film.” Today, on throwback thursday, we remember this legendary actor and producer through some of his superhit songs.

Remembering The First President Of India: Dr. Rajendra Prasad

On the birth anniversary of Dr. Rajendra Prasad, we remember him through some of the historic photographs from his life.

Published

Rajendra Prasad

More rarely than often, there comes a national leader, who leave an everlasting imprint in the history of a nation. He molds the present of the country to shape the destiny of its people. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was one such leader.

Elected as the President of India, at the dawn of Independence, he is the only person to hold the highest office twice. This extraordinary story of one of the stalwart freedom fighters started in the most ordinary circumstances. He was born on 3rd December 1884 in the Zeradei area of Bihar. A lawyer by qualification, he practiced law in Calcutta and Patna High Courts. In the backdrop of freedom struggle, he slowly entered politics as a volunteer during his college days. However, during the Champaran Satyagraha, he participated in the movement actively and also renounced his legal practice during the Non-Cooperation Movement.

Today on his birth anniversary, we remember him through some of the rarest photographs of his life.

Throwback Thursday With The Ever Charming Zeenat Aman

This thursday, we bring you a throwback to one of the most bold and beautiful bollywood actresses of her times, Zeenat Aman.

“Open your heart and mind like the wings of a butterfly. See then how high you can fly.”

It is often seen that the biggest superstars, along with their fame and glamour, are also credited for overcoming the biggest hardships of life. Zeenat Aman, a strong woman and a fabulous actress, had to go through her share of obstacles to be the inspiring figure that she is today.

Recipient of the prestigious Miss India title, she went on to be crowned as Miss Asia Pacific in 1970. One of the early adopters of western clothing, Zeenat pulled off the latest trends like no actress ever did. Flaunting her curves and beauty, she won the hearts of her viewers in her debut film Hare Ram Hare Krishna. Defying the expected persona of a woman in the 70s and 80s, Zeenat was not a purveyor of shyness or coquettishness, rather she was confident, brazen and carried out her roles with a daunting style.

An inspirational figure for all the young women out there, she faced the challenges in her life head-on. She followed her heart and motivated all her fans to do the same. As her dialogue in Bandhan Kuchchey Dhaagon ka goes,” Adhoore sapne chubte bahut hai..bahut teekhui hoti hai unki chubhan” So let not your dreams be unfulfilled, chase them, attain them and leave no room for regrets!

Today, we celebrate the legendary Zeenat Aman through some of her superhit songs.

In other words, it is the language of science. Very rarely than often, we come across people, who truly understands the subject to a great extent. Mathematician Vashishtha Narayan Singh was one such genius.

He was born on the 2nd April 1942, in the Basantpur village of the Bhojpur district of Bihar. He completed his schooling from Netarhat Residential School and then went to Patna Science College for his graduation. His genius was proved, when he was not only allowed to take the final year exams in his first year itself, but also topped the same. Eventually, he completed his doctorate from the University of California and went on to work at NASA, IITs and Indian Statistical Institute. His inspiring life and invaluable contributions to the world will, forever, be a great source of motivation for all of us.
