What does it take to go from chasing strangers in Nehru Place with SIP brochures to becoming a face recognized by millions across India for financial wisdom? For Bhanu Pathak, the answer lies somewhere between grit, Google Sheets and one viral video. In this heartfelt and inspiring conversation, Bhanu opens up about his roots, risks and realisations and how one video changed everything.

Small Town Start, Big-Time Dreams

Born in Faridabad with roots in Uttarakhand, Bhanu’s early years were just like many Indian middle-class kids, no silver spoon, just sincere dreams. He always had a curious streak when it came to numbers, finance and figuring out how money worked.

After a BBA from IP University (which he laughingly recalls had “no scope”), Bhanu wasn’t one to wait around for luck. He started interning during college, selling SIPs in Lajpat Nagar to random passersby, handing out pamphlets and getting rejected a hundred times a day. But that’s where he learned the priceless skills of how to communicate, connect and convince.

By 19, he wasn’t just investing in stocks, he was advising others on insurance, compounding and long-term investing. “Sales teaches you everything,” he says. And as a matter of fact, it really did.

When a Finance Intern Accidentally Became a Creator

While waiting for his corporate joining at WIPRO after completing his MBA in Finance from the Birla Institute of Technology, Bhanu did something that would unknowingly alter his destiny, he started making videos. Initially, he just did that to boost sales for Bajaj Capital during his internship. So, he started making short explainer videos about financial products. No mic, no fancy lights, just Bhanu, his thoughts and a camera.

And then, it happened. One video on a petroleum stock made boosted his followers to 2.5 lakh from a mere 3000 followers, overnight. “It felt unreal,” he admits. That’s when he started posting consistently and realized that this is more than just content ,it’s impact.

The Double Life of WIPRO by Day, Creator by Night

Even though his social media numbers soared, Bhanu stayed at his job. He worked as a Senior Associate at WIPRO while spending nights ideating, scripting, editing and uploading content. It was exhausting.

However, the turning point came when a brand deal offered him more money for one video than his entire monthly salary. That’s when he knew that this isn’t just a hobby anymore, it’s a career. He resigned from WIPRO quietly and didn’t even tell his family. But deep down, he knew this was the start of something bold. Bhanu officially launched his own company, pitched to banks, got his GST and stepped into full-time entrepreneurship. His father, like most Indian dads, was initially very skeptical. “Until I had 5 lakh followers, he still told people I worked at WIPRO,” Bhanu chuckles. But when he appeared live on ET Now, speaking confidently in a TV studio, his family watched in awe. That moment changed everything. “That’s when they realised ,this isn’t ‘just reels.’ This is real.”

Batlaiye: Finance, Faith & Famous Faces

Bhanu’s podcast, “Batlaiye,” is where finance meets family living room. It features everything from insurance to investment, from Shark Tank’s Amit Jain to spiritual leader Pundarik Goswami. His calm, clear approach makes complex money matters feel like chai-time conversations. He’s taken this storytelling to TEDx stages, IIT panels and now has his eyes set on Bollywood and OTT creators for future podcast guests.

If there’s one thing Bhanu Pathak is passionate about, it’s busting financial myths that trap Indian families. He states, “Policies that say you’ll double your money in 10 years ,nobody tells you the real annual growth rate is just 2-3%.” He wants people to use Excel, ask questions and never rely blindly on agents. Despite being a finance expert, Bhanu admits to emotional money moves. At 23, he bought his dream house (worth nearly ₹1 crore) and a car, both his long-held childhood dreams.

His message!

With a following of over 8 lakh on Instagram and nearly 4 lakh on YouTube, you’d imagine Bhanu lives in the fast lane. But he’s surprisingly grounded. “I don’t celebrate too much when I win, so I don’t feel crushed when I lose.” This balanced mindset helps him stay consistent, even when the algorithm isn’t friendly.

And his biggest advice?

If I had stopped one video earlier thinking no one’s watching I wouldn’t be here today.

Bhanu Pathak’s story is more than just reels and reach. It’s about persistence, purpose and showing up every day with honesty. Whether it’s a college student thinking of investing or a creator unsure about their niche, his message is loud and clear:

Your name should be your SEO. Your work should speak for you.

So, if you’ve been waiting for a sign to start that YouTube channel, launch your podcast, or finally understand how compounding works, this is it. Start today. Because as Bhanu says, you’re already late.
