It’s the time we’ve waited for all year long – Christmas is here! Surely, I can’t be the only one desperately waiting to open presents this winter, underneath the fake Christmas tree. But imagine all this, sitting with my friends and family letting the holiday spirit take over. 2020 has been hard for everyone. But at least we end it on a joyous note, lighting up our houses, baking and rushing to buy all the last-minute presents.

As most of us already know, Christmas falls on the 25th of December. This particular festival celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. While surely, it is a Christian festival, the week-long holidays are celebrated by Christians and non-Christians alike. It’s festival elders and children await with great zeal for the exchange of gifts and the jolly mythical being – Santa Claus.

Even though we all can’t experience the typical Christmas festivities – with the real tree and white cold snow outside the windows as we shiver through our fuzzy coats holding cups of hot cocoa – people still try their best to bring the Christmas spirit home for the holidays. Decorating their house and trees, baking cakes and cookies, hanging socks, everyone is filled with nothing but pure joy.

But one thing is missing. The most important part of the holiday – apart from Santa and gifts – the Christmas Carols! We bring you some melodious renditions of iconic carols you can play throughout the holidays.

First, we have a North-East Indian version of ‘Silent Night’ in their local dialect. Sung by Aphenliu Chawang, Kijuthuiliu Mataina and Liukin Chawang, you could hear this song for days without getting tired!
