Laughter is the best medicine, they say, well, in that case, standup comedians must earn a fortune every day, Isn’t it? While acknowledging the subject of stand up comedy, it is a whole another world in itself, very few individuals get a chance to visit and live into that world.

It takes years and years to build a career in this field, you got to be extremely funny in order to be successful. It takes real guts to perform in front of an audience and make them laugh, you cannot afford to be nervous, even if you are you can’t show, hence very few individuals make it.

So, here we bring you a peek to those few individuals that are not just responsible to make people laugh, but also to win their hearts at the same time.

Have a look at the stand-up comedy by Gaurav Gupta, describing his mother’s grudges and experiences, along with his visits abroad.

Zakir Khan, the sensational, and extremely talented surprises us with another bang in this hilarious video talking about different tales of his life and his middle-class observations.

Check out the very funny and humorous video of Ms Jeeya Sethi expressing his peculiar views about falling in love at an odd age of thirty-eight.

Desperate Times Call For Some Amazing Humour!

In the past few months, as things seem desperately incurable it will do us good to remember
that laughter truly is the best medicine.

Standup Comedy

Enticing laughter is truly one of the hardest things to do. Now, more than ever we could all do with a little guffaw or a smirk or even a simple smile. As we see the world spit out more and more disheartening headlines by the hour, some people take it upon themselves to spread joy and laughter because really, what else is life really about? A shared moment of happiness will make a home in your mind for the rest of your living days.

We bring you two such comics who, much like the alchemist’s stone, have turned our gloomy morose days into fun using amazing with and commentary. On September 21st, Munawar Faruqi released an eight-minute set entitled ‘Pubg, Arnab and Drugs’, which are definitely few terms nobody has been able to escape from in the last few days. Filled with witty commentary and hidden political discourse, this one will make you laugh and also feel energised about your place in the world and what you can do to make it as ethical as possible. Just on the brink of a million views, Faruqi’s skill and timing in this video stand apart on their own.

It is very difficult to streamline the world of comedy, there are a vast number of ways to make a person laugh and many comedians mould themselves into their unique ‘brands’. Some make it musical (a la Bo Burnham) and some like to keep it observational (like Kenny Sebastian), but there truly is no label that could encapsulate Gaurav Kapoor’s intuition and skill. In a video titled ‘Dollars and Happy Birthday’, he shows us a glimpse of a show conducted over zoom in which he tickles many funnybones of people from all around the globe. He brought forth a feeling of unity and togetherness tied through a string of jokes and punches. Surely, not one to miss out on!

These stories presented by Tape A Tale and Live By FnP Media refer to a lifelong priceless lesson that takes an artist to figure out and spread the word.

Stories are shrouded with emotions, creativity, and dialogue but when they are resonated into a poem, the beauty of it reaches to an unimaginable level. A simple story when turned into a poem and recited appropriately can mesmerize the spectator in every way.

Tape A Tale and Live By FnP Media are two of the biggest platforms to nurture and promote artistic thinking of storytelling and poem recitation. They leave no stone unturned while doling out an opportunity to all those who believe to be creative and help them prove their mettle.

It’s very noble of these platforms to help those little poets of the country who wish to spread their word out of different opinions they possess. Writer’s creativity portrays a simple concept into a life lesson if needed for. The beauty of that is spectacular and inspires millions.

These storytellers have put forward their life lessons into a poem and wish to inspire people and make an impact.

Kartik Chandna presented an extremely beautiful realistic story of his childhood that led him to connect the dots towards a priceless life lesson. A small cardamon that made a change in his life led him to inspire other people with this lesson since it was an unprecedented perception of a situation that no one could figure.

Kena Shree symbolized the importance of lack of personal interaction due to social media influence over the people of the country. She presented an effectively common perception by the people online who are insensitive towards other’s feelings and led her to recite a story about it. She explained how social media has created a wall between reality and the digital world.

Ahmed Faraz in this story features himself as a child and shares his experience of the time when Paise still held importance. His beautiful representation of life and the childhood version f his had similarity that no one seems to notice.

A ‘Shameless’ Girl’s Audacity to Fly: A Story By Shreya Chadal

Women are expected to fit in a poorly built structure of patriarchal society, to sacrifice their base desires and lay bound in fetters of taboo of dos and don’ts.

Shameless Girl

“Shameless girl” a story by Shreya Chadal staged by tape a tale deals with the themes of suppressed emotions and desires of women. Simplistic plot with domestic narrative makes the realism of oppression of dreams of women roars with the same intensity by which their voice is oppressed.

Set in the late 20th century and a small town of Karimnagar in Telangana, story begins with a little girl Sarita’s fascination on seeing a ‘silver bird’, an airplane, flying high in the sky and the girl then dreams of exploring the limitless sky with her own flight. As a girl woman weave dreams with the finest of threads but turning into a woman the very loom of the weaver is broken by the expectations of social conduct which take away their freedom of choice. The little girl of the story grows up inclined towards fashion designing. She makes a proposition of pursuing her passion as her career but ill taboos revolving around the career mark the end of the argument and the girl as ‘shameless’.

Fast forward in 21st century the little girl is a mother now with a daughter who wants to pursue theatre. The same superstitious society with its own perceptions stands ready to dart its arrows of suppression. Will the mother help her daughter fly or will she follow the cascading lessons and be amongst the oppressors? The climax of the story deals with this question and choice between bearing subjugation and revolution.

The story reflects that even in the contemporary times, the caged structure in which women are trapped, loosely called as filial obligation, is still prevalent. A woman is still expected to be altruistic towards the assassinators of her dream. It is now left for the listener’s curiosity to discover whether the story would end as a happy one or as a tragedy, like a woman’s life.

Dushyant Singh

Either you fall in love with the city or in the city, that’s the beauty of Delhi. It can never run out of untold stories and grudges, this fast-paced city takes you through the most peaceful places of your inner mind.

Love lies in those little things you endure, those memories that you cherish while witnessing just a tiny part of it. The story of ‘Zukhaam’ escorts you through the journey of Dushyant Singh of his trip to Delhi in order to confess his feelings to his lover.

A love confession is harder than the confession of failing in Maths to your father. TRUST ME! It is. It is not easy at all. This story explains the hurdles of confessing feelings to another person. It brings you the memories of your love confessions and their exclusivity to it.

Confessing puts you at a difficult spot, a spot where you are unaware of the response. The wait kills you from the inside, this story will show the reality of it, and escort you through the memories of your own.

Love takes you through different boundaries, it makes you forget the very basis of right or wrong decisions. They say ‘I promise you to love in sickness or in health’ this story will show you the real depiction of it, where even her sneeze seems to be as beautiful as she is.
