Sepia

Sepia, a short film by Archit Kumar, starring Aparshakti Khurana and Sapna Pabbi is a very realistic portrayal of the ups and downs couples face in their relationship. More often than not, there are dissents on various subjects which cause turbulent nights, perhaps even days. It seems like the world has ended and minds are made up to give it all up. Giving up is easy, isn’t it? What’s hard is to stay, work on it and make a relationship successful. The movie gives its viewers an important insight into modern day relationships and puts forward the thought of not giving up on a relationship and trying to make it work. The film also hints towards the very Indian belief of superstitions, fate and luck. It juxtaposes together the modern rational beliefs along with the ancient superstitious beliefs, and the couple’s way of dealing with their differences. It is made interesting by adding slight hints on the heroine’s past and a couple of her photographs, the same photographs which provide the movie with an enthralling end.

A very acute depiction of how the most trivial matters can cause great disturbances, the movie successfully encapsulates, and advises on, modern day relationships. Beautifully written and very well enacted, it’s surely a great addition to your watchlist.

What If Life Comes With An “Exchange Offer”?

“Exchange offer” is a tale of reluctance in adapting to the transience of the society and firm eradication of that to witness a merry ending.

Exchange Offer

Evolution and changeability is the elixir of life, failing to acquire them you’re left in a space of monotonous and humdrum life. The protagonist of the short film Shiv Kumar Pant is a retired school principal who is stuck in a similar situation. Living with his caretaker Bisveswar in the absence of his son who is settled in California and his wife’s humble abode being heaven he spends his time in isolation. To leap the numbers on the clock he scribbles poetry on his old computer. The set-up of a grand library also suggests him to be an avid reader and is also characterized in an old school tone who keeps technology’s influence at bay.

The turn of events happen when the only source of his entertainment is cut off, a computer glitch gives the story its rising action. He communicates the glitch to his son which suggests of a replacement first and then finally agrees upon contacting the company. The protagonist, by now, has been portrayed in an exasperated mood. Also, the disinclination of the protagonist in replacing the computer reflects upon the primary theme of the short film. However, in response to the complaint an engineer from the company is sent which to the disappointment reveals that the computer cannot be repaired since it’s an outdated model. Setting the climax the engineer returns with an “exchange offer”. Will the exchange offer bring around a positive spin about the small isolated globe of the protagonist’s life? Will the offer bring home some spectacular nostalgia and redeem the protagonist’s vivacity?

Revealing any further would be stabbing the curiosity built through the plot. The title being an extended metaphor for the contrast between the character’s life in the beginning and in the end, the 30 minutes short film will dig up the zeal to introspect and circumspect your own self.

Half of my heart

Sometimes people are not in long-distance relationships, they are in a long-distance from relationships, that is what somewhat happened with this beautiful couple in this video for which they both had to pay a huge price for.

Starring Sejal Kumar and Arjun Kanungo, this Terribly Tiny Tales presentation is a cute story of a couple where they seem to have fought over a stupid issue and the girl went all the way back to her friend’s place after which the dreadful storm arrived which we are suffering through as the lockdown. A lot of people are in trouble due to the lockdown because suddenly all the plans were put on hold due to the situation.

Imagine if you had to live in someone else’s house, that too your ex-girlfriend’s, without her being there. Well, it gets awkward, but both halves of their hearts have the capacity to solve everything, now all that is left is missing each other and wishing for the lockdown to get over and resume with their happy lives.

While some couples are lucky enough to have been enjoying the lockdown as much as ever since now they both have time to talk, work, and learn. On the other hand, few couples got in trouble and are now facing the consequences. Well have faith and be calm, everything is going to be fine. If you are having issues with the long-distance, why don’t you just blame it on the lockdown and move on? Don’t let it ruin months or years of hard work and effort. TRUST ME! IT’S NOT WORTH IT.

Everything is Fine- A Sweet And Inspiring Short film of A Brave Mother

Nowadays it takes guts to become independent and for the old mothers it’s even more difficult, this story shows the real inspiring picture of a brave mother

Everything is fine

We often tend to ignore the little instants of sordidness when it comes to saving the reputation in society. We always neglect those moments of insult just to guard the image. Divorcing your husband is a brave thing to do but not possible for women who are helpless and spent their entire life taking care of the children.

There are very few circumstances that lead to a mother asking her children to not let her go back to her husband because she is not happy, it takes guts to wind up in a situation where she is supposed to ask her children for help.

One such short story is ‘Everything is Fine’ by Royal Barrel Select Large Short Films that features a story of a small family of three where the mother is unhappy of her marriage, and just like everybody else, it wasn’t a good enough reason for her to leave her husband.

It should be notified though that once the mother stops caring, it is after a lot of effort that she has put and has received nothing in return. She is somehow always the one who’s neglected maybe because she never bothered to correct people in order to preserve others happiness and giving up hers. It is unfair and unacceptable to neglect her wishes and there is no man that has the rights to put down her wife and not respect her choices.

This story portrays the courage that the mother puts together in order to safeguard her own self-respect more than her family’s or society’s traditions and for once chooses to do what she really wants. That is the kind of courage that mothers need to assemble to achieve what they want.

Sleeveless: A Taboo-breaking Story Of Mother And Daughter

A mother and daughter relationsip is unque. Every relationship has its own USPs, this film breaks a tabo of old fashionaed thinking and modernity.

Sleeveless

A relationship that is shared between a mother and a daughter is very sacred. At times there comes a clash of opinions due to the generation gap between them that mostly starts when the daughter touches teenage.

It is very intriguing and at the same time confusing to understand one another at that point, since the daughter has been exposed to a different environment whereas the mother is a little old fashioned and possesses similar thinking.

This short film by Pocket Films explains a very clouded issue that every daughter comes across at some point where she was thrown questions like, “Are you gonna go out like this” commenting on her dressing sense which is far too revealing for others.

For a mother, it’s a concern of safety which is a taboo, she believes her daughter’s revealing clothes will stimulate or incite men out there which will jeopardize her life. On the other hand, the daughter’s concern is her image at college. Being a teenager, she likes to wear trending clothes, irrespective of what her mother would think.

This video breaks the taboo and portrays the real and rightful image of the mindset like that of the mothers. It breaks the taboo of protecting daughters by making them wear less revealing clothes.

We should understand it’s never the skirt that is short, it’s the thinking.

Mishti Doi: A Sweet Short Film in The Platter of Life

A Pocket Films presentation, Mishti Doi is a short film, around the unsaid words in relationships and understanding them brings sweetness in life.

Mishti Doi

They say in order to understand the feeling of others you need to put yourself in their shoes, but is it really possible? Will we ever be able to understand the pain a widowed father goes through even if we imagine ourselves as him? Guess not.

A widowed father goes through a lot of battles, but does he ever show? Will his son ever be able to feel his pain until he faces the circumstances himself? He can grieve for his lost mother, but will he ever be able to feel the pain of his father?

The story of Mishti Doi explains a little about the everyday battles and the little things a widowed father experiences. Talking to his wife everyday through her picture imagining her to be present at every step of his way might be difficult for others to understand, but for him, that’s the only medium to stay in touch with her and feel her presence around him. With an immense amount of excitement filled in his mind and heart, he prepares food on the birth anniversary of her wife expecting his son and his daughter in law to mark their presence at least on this day.

Thinking of the surprise he promised his wife his son would get, he wants to unveil it to her as soon as possible, he asks, “Son did you get the Mishti Doi from the shop your mother loves?” The frowned son could not think of an answer. In the monotonous life cycle, he undergoes everyday, maybe that was too much to ask for. The father not choosing to express his disappointment he manages to put up a smile and says “It’s okay”.

As far as a sweet is concerned, any sweet is fine, isn’t it? The daughter in law hands over the chocolates she got from abroad, maybe this will make him feel better, she might have thought. He lays down the pack of chocolates in front of her wife. He tries his best to make her believe that it wasn’t her son’s fault, the shop was closed, he told her. Was she convinced? His tears answered the question. The sorrow of the father could not be compared when the next day, the bell rang and there his son was with a pack of Mishti Doi from the same shop his mother loved.

He might have been late, but better late than never, they say, and they say it right.
