Highly esteemed institutions such as IIT Bombay has bestowed the most talented individuals picked out from a large portion of the population of the country who deserved the opportunity. Such an individual was our beloved Ranjan Raj aka Meena from Kota Factory by The Viral Fever that won hearts by their unique approach towards portraying the real picture of the struggles Kota students go through.
Speaking of his personal and professional life into theatre and cinema, in this Digital Commentary’s interview with the host Shashi Mukherjee, Raj shared several experiences of his life that led him to procure the role of Meena. He also shared his journey of acquiring a tiny role in the blockbuster film ‘Chhichhore’.
He is a great example for people who intend to follow their passion irrespective of the circumstances and society’s rituals. After an immense amount of hard work, he got selected for IIT, but after a few years, he realised it was not his cup of tea although he believed in his talent tremendously he was convinced that he must no longer pursue engineering, which is when he dropped out and continued to chase down acting full time.
Meena character has remained in the minds of people infinitely, he is known for his character more than as a person himself. His character portrayed various dimensions of behaviour and knowledge. Belonging to a lower-middle-class family, he depicted the real picture of expectations and society’s rituals, whereas in real life he was the opposite which shows the real talent of an actor. He drove out from his comfort zone to present a different character altogether.
