A Young Upcoming Artist From Delhi: Unnati Singhal

Unnati makes her way into our hearts through the amazing strokes of the paintbrush. In an exchange with The Talented Indian, she shares her journey so far.

Published

Unnati Singhal

Strokes of the paintbrush through the white canvas creates a colourful world of imagination and reveals the deep thoughts of our minds in the light of creativity. Unnati, a young upcoming artist from Delhi, paints her thoughts in beautiful bright colors or monochromatic style and creates fine artworks.

Born and raised in Delhi, Unnati completed her graduation in Psychology from Lady Shri Ram College in 2018. Currently, working in the HR department in a global consulting firm, she exemplifies the spirit of a true artist as she continues to follow her passion.

She describes her relationship with the art as the “love-hate” kind, from being appreciated for her art skills in 6th grade to organizing multiple art exhibitions in school and college to not painting altogether for nearly 2 years, the struggles have remained consistent throughout her journey lately. However, her mother remained her biggest cheerleader, giving her the strength to continue all along.

Unnati creates art basing her thoughts, feelings, or the words which appeal her. She’s inspired by a mental health community – Artidote and a multi-disciplinary artist Raghava KK, whose modest and self-actualizing attitude helps Unnati to be consistent.

She highlights the fact that “the excellence is borne not just out of any particular innate ability, but of practice and persistence.” While giving hope to young upcoming artists, she states that “each one of us has our shares of struggles, vulnerabilities and setbacks.  What keeps us going is the fire, the passion we have. So, just chase that fire and let things follow.”

"We're just a bunch of addicts struggling with the drug of our choice, some of us are left in peace while others are left into pieces" (unknown) Caring, worrying what other people think, letting opinions influence actions or perception, waiting, wondering and doing things the "way we should ideally do" has always been important to us. The whole concept that we has been preached about killing ourselves for marks, then mostly not getting to pursue our passion due to ranks, eventually getting a desk job in a business form or pursue several degrees till there are no more to pursue seems like something we're doing very wrong yet want to follow the same. While I write this, I know I'm happily taking the same route. Contextually, while I'm unsure where all I went wrong, I surely admit I wasn't always right. For alot many years, the need for external validation and self actualisation for me was inseparable. Then came further additions of chaos, multitasking, self-critical attitude and perfectionism that I had to create. The only time when I thought I am being productive is during pressure. I've been chasing all this to be competitive enough, to ensure not to miss out on opportunities, to ensure to get hold of the best. "Survival of the fittest" to thrive, isn't it? While we bleed, cry, mourn and rush into addiction or hunger for whatsoever we crave for (love, perfectionism, money, lust, power), we need to realise the need to be consistent, and not extreme, the need to be back on track and not relapse. As I write this, the only non competitive space I have received is on IG through art for it's power of healing. All the things I've been posting lately are not created during my pressured moments. While my consistent habits continue to creep in asking me to widen the reach, not disappoint people and make prefect pieces, little me is being candid and sketching her heart out. #streamofconsciousness #healing #thoughtstoponder #tobevulnerablyhonest #thingsthatmakeyougohmmm #thingsittakesawhiletounderstand #jackdaniel #blackandwhite #freehandart #survivalofthefittest #monochrome #artistsoninstagram #withered #addictions #artforthesoul #artoftheday🎨

Portrait Painting: Capturing Life With Fine Strokes of The Brush

The highly talented artists Suresh Trivedi, Sumit Sarkar, Namdev Harsh and A R T O S R I T A M, capture life on paper through their portrait paintings.

Portrait Painting

Since time immemorial, art has held a special position when it comes to communicating or expressing emotions. Before languages came into being, cavemen communicated with each other through drawings and sketches; rock paintings have been made since the Palaeolithic age, 40,000 years ago. Art has a very rich legacy and it continues to be carried on further, for art will continue to exist as long as the human race exists. This segment is dedicated to skilful artists with expertise in Portrait art- painting and sketching.

We relate to Portraits on a different level – the depth in the eyes, the creases on the skin, the texture of the hair and the curves of the lips…we notice things we never saw before; we appreciate the beauty more intently and passionately. Portraits carry a significant part of humanity with them, we identify people with their faces and through facial expressions we are able to make out the emotions a person is experiencing at the time. Kings and Queens expressed their pride and glory by getting painted grand portraits of themselves, and even today, portraits seem to capture the intensity of emotions better than cameras ever could.

It is a special feeling to see your image sketched with lead on a canvas, the array of colours which go on to give shape to your beauty. These portrait sketchers strive to create human expressions on paper. Their masterful pieces of art give us a glimpse into their world of recreating human faces with their own understanding of human features. The precision and accuracy they exhibit leave the spectators in awe and the grandeur in their art can be felt. The time and hard work with which each piece of art is crafted add to the aesthetic value it holds. The magnificence of their art is remarkable and so is their dedication towards adding life to a combination of lines and curves.

Today, we take you to the world of beautiful portraits, created by the fine expertise of these talented artists.

Some great Indian digital artists like Archan Nair, Jithin Roda, Medha Srivastava and Nikhil Shinde are using technology to create elegant art pieces. We bring to you some of such exceptional works.

Creatively Carving Art In Fresh Leaves: Mamta Goel

Mamta Goel gives out the message that it is never too late to follow your dreams. She creates beautiful art pieces by carving out images on natural leaves.

Published

Mamta Goel

Pablo Picasso once said, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” Mamta Goel epitomizes this spirit of a true artist through her work.

Born in Muzaffarnagar, UP, she did her postgraduation in Political Science and then pursued Journalism. Her interest in art surfaced during her childhood, when she was inspired by one of her classmate’s art. Gradually, with the responsibilities of the family and marriage, her passion took a back seat. But with time, after her children grew up, she restarted her art journey with all the encouragement from her family.

Rigorous practice and hard work perfected her craft and earned her recognition for this unique talent. She carves out images on fresh natural leaves, making beautiful art pieces.

Her message to young upcoming artists is that, “it is not necessary for you to be a born artist. Your passion and practice will one day make the master of your craft. Passion and hard work is the key. Never give up.”
