Taking The Experience Of Art To Everyone Through Street Art

Street Art is democratizing the Art by taking it from museums and galleries to our streets and serving as a powerful tool for social activism.

In the words of Chris Geiger, “Few people go to art exhibitions nowadays, the art comes to them!” Street art has led to the democratization of art. It allows everyone to now experience this excellent craft around them, in their day-to-day lives. Many street artists envision just the same.

Artists from diverse backgrounds represent various cultures, traditions and viewpoints, thus bringing about true diversity to the art. Depicting various social issues, street art serves as a powerful tool in the hands of the government and citizens to extend the positive message around.

We bring to you some of the extremely talented artists in the arena.

Whenever I some across a good graffiti on one of the city walls, the only word that escapes my lips is “Cool!”. I think Graffiti has some unsaid relationship with coolness, for me its one of the coolest art forms. A rather loud way of expression, painting walls with spray paints isn’t that easy to master. Through this article we would like to highlight some very skilled graffiti artists, each exuberating their own set of expressions.

Beautifying various walls with their art, these graffiti artists shower creativity with their paints. Going by the Instagram handle vinyas_freakstyle has created some very beautiful art including an incredible graffiti of the hulk! Zine_grffiti has painted some enormous graffiti involving amazing colour gradients. Zake_india surprises us with his variations from tigers and birds to human portraits! Wickedbroz is a graffiti and street art company, which works with multiple artists to create magical projects. Similarly, nme_graffiti and inkzen_axom leave their spectators in awe with their fantastic graffiti art. What’s surprising is the wide variation of style among all these artists, different colour combinations and perspectives.

We recommend you to check out these terrific graffiti artists who are sure to leave you in colourful mists of awe and wonder!

The largest Asian Flycatcher in India Enter @skshirin89, ever ready to take up challenges. Her let’s do it attitude was of great inspiration in the initial days. She helped us decide what to do about Ladies First. She helped bring structure to our thinking. She helped design the logo of the festival among other things. On arriving in Marol, Shirin was clear she wanted to do a long vertical wall. The nice people of Lokdarshan society agreed to have their massive 80 foot tall side face of H block painted. It’s a big task to paint something on that scale. A crane was sourced that would carry Shirin up in a bucket and allow her to stand on a stable platform while painting feet after feet of the gigantic wall. The Asian Flycatcher, a beautiful but rare bird often found in the surrounding Aarey forest. It isn’t just a happy sight for all to see but also sends across a message of conservation of nature for an area like Marol which used to be forest land previously. Three days of hardwork in the sun that left Shirin completely soaked and exhausted and the residents of Lokdarshan beaming with smiles. This was the tallest painting in all of Ladies First and in Marol Art Village. It was also the tallest painting that Shirin herself has done. Everyone proud, everyone happy! #RaniTakeOver. Done. . . When we talk of heroes, we presume that they are strong and have a great fan base. This is neither the world of comics nor the childhood fantasies of Marvel and DC.  Lets us take you to India, where heroes are born in common house holds but don’t have a recognition.

Vipul Singh Tapas,  a 22 years engineering dropout and traveler on a shoestring budget. Unveiling the hero in himself  without any cap and recognition, Vipul is an street artist and a social activist. The introduction might give you the contents of the book but only the chapters inside give you the exact story.
He is like every other student, traumatized by Mathematics, forced to opt for engineering, still, somehow,  managed to pursue what he is loveing and  passionate about. Communicating with the masses in general and theatre in particular, Vipul travels to various parts of the country. On being asked how does he manage to travel, he promptly replied “I keep a shoestring budget of my travels and visit rural sections of the society and caters to the issues and troubles faced by the people in the rural area”.  He  discusses the problems of the villagers  with the village authorities and urges them to resolve the same. If no action is being taken, then he depicts it before the villagers in the form of a Nukkad Naatak.

IMG_0045

Vipul has been to 17 states and performed more than 697 nukkads depicting social evils and issues people face in the rural India like social hypocrisy, and gender inequalities.

The Talented Indian Community would like to appreciate and recognize the great work, being carried out by Vipul Singh Tapas. We would also like to appeal to all Indians to encourage and support such acts aiming to remove social inequality and promote social harmony among the people of the country.
