Sayyam Rakh

In this state of lockdown that our country is suffering from, people have indeed started to lose patience since all their lives have been on hold, let alone the offices and shops. This situation requires people to remain calm and stay safe, but now that it has extended to nearly two months of lockdown, it is difficult for everybody to stay patient.

Understanding the distress people are going through, the government doesn’t back down in providing some entertainment to keep them engaged. Similarly, how they started broadcasting Mahabharat and Ramayan on Doordarshan, the people have also taken the initiative to bring entertainment into the lives of people.

Apni Dhun, a successful channel on youtube, has released a music video titled ‘Sayyam Rakh’ where they request people to have patience since everything that is transpiring is for their own good.

It is a very beautiful and encouraging song that has been released with incredible lyrics along with a very catchy tune in order to influence people to remain calm and stay safe in regard to protect themselves and others as well.

This video by Apni Dhun sets out a beautiful tone with a melodic voice that is sung and composed by Payal Dev, lyrics of Sayyam Rakh is generated by Kunal Vermaa, and the beautiful and aesthetic sand art in the video done by Rahul Arya.

Sejal Kumar’s First Original Single for Creators for Change: Aisi Hu

‘Aisi hu’, the first ever original of Sejal Kumar, is a part of Creators for Change, a global movement for girls’ education with Michelle Obama.

Published

on

Sejal Kumar

With increasing awareness regarding feminism, it is important to raise awareness regarding the basic ideology that fuels discrimination between men and women. It is important to address the root causes which lead to female exploitation and to trace back its beginnings, we need to question one’s grooming as a child, starting primarily from the house. Aisi Hun, by Sejal Kumar, is an informational as well as an inspiring song which sheds light on the same.

In her first ever original song, Sejal tells the tale of an ordinary Indian girl being brought up in a middle-class household. The problems highlighted in this video are not individualistic, rather represent the issues faced by the women community as a whole. Through the journey of this girl, it caters to trivial day to day occurrences like hiding sanitary pads in presence of a male member of the family, parents shying away from providing their kids basic sex education, imposing clothe restrictions and male interactions. At the same time, it also deals with how ignorant and reckless men are when it comes to dealing with unwanted pregnancies. The way they abandon women in times of need and fail to take responsibility for something they equally partook in highlights the faultiness in their upbringing. Matters catering to feminism can not just be solved by women alone. Equal participation of men is of vital importance and so is parental support in such cases.

It is the parents who can inculcate in their boys the basic ideology of respecting women and redefine what “being a man” means. At the same time, they should raise their girls to be strong and confident, and at the same time infuse in them equality and the will to fight for their rights. Aisi hu is a part of Creators for Change, a global movement for girls’ education with Michelle Obama.
